Tech and Techniques with Guy

Guy LeBlanc, Certified Arborist, Arbor Vitae Tree Care, Austin 

Guy LeBlanc is a long time ISA Certified Arborist and owner of Arbor Vitae Tree Care of Austin. With over 40 years of tree care industry experience, Guy has been teaching tree care to arborists and the general public for over 20 years. Guy LeBlanc es un arborista certificado por ISA desde hace mucho tiempo y propietario de Arbor Vitae Tree Care de Austin. Vivian Tran, PhD, is a scientist at ePlant and a graduate of the Plant Biology department at the University of Georgia. She is a plant evolutionary ecophysiologist by trade, with a background in drought and salinity stress tolerance and trait physiology. In addition to wrangling data, Vivian works to elucidate relationships between a tree’s physiological responses and its environment.

 

 

 

Roman Franzia is the business strategist at ePlant and a graduate of Cal Poly’s Agricultural Business program. Through his in-school and out-of-school experience, he developed a background in Ag entrepreneurship and business development. Now, working closely with the VP of Product Management at ePlant, Roman helps develop potential applications for ePlant’s technology by providing the team with valuable information about the users and their perspectives in the various markets.

 

 

 

Dana Karcher considers herself a green infrastructure “connector”. Her entire career has been focused on linking communities with professionals, volunteers, and advocates who believe that trees create better, greener, and healthier places to live, work, and play. Currently, Dana is a project developer for the Davey Resource Group. She has spent 15 years with DRG, helping a variety of entities meet their urban forestry and green infrastructure goals. She also has a nonprofit background including three years with the Arbor Day Foundation as the program manager for the Alliance for Community Trees. She is passionate about ensuring trees are cared for properly and to that end, has served in leadership roles of International Society of Arboriculture including President of the Board of Directors. She is active in Front Range Urban Forestry Council, a board member for the Colorado Tree Coalition, and speaks frequently throughout the US. Dana holds a BS in Political Science, and is a Certified Arborist with a Municipal Specialist designation. In her spare time, Dana enjoys hiking, gardening, modern quilting, and college football.

 

 

Scott DeGrant has worked in several facets of the parks and recreation industry for 22 years, including recreation coordinator, park district supervisor, and asset system administrator. While at the City of Arlington, TX, he was one of the first clients to use Cartegraph Asset Management specifically for Parks and Recreation. Scott retired in 2019 and went to work for Cartegraph (now OpenGov) as a Customer Success Engineer.”

Mariah Menzie is a Board Certified Master Arborist MW-5715B, a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP), and is Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. Since 2013, Mariah has developed a passion for arboriculture and consistently incorporates the latest technological advancements in the field into her knowledge base. Her daily responsibilities primarily include consultations, managing the company’s IT needs, and leading most of the training sessions at Tree Wizard Tree Service located in Norman, Oklahoma. Additionally, she made history by being the first woman from Oklahoma to secure the Midwest ISA women’s slot in the 2019 International Tree Climbing Competition.

 

 

Jennifer Alger is CEO of Far West Forest Products and manages Wood-Mizer California. For ever 25 years she’s rescued downed urban trees diverting them from landfills and converting them to lumber. Jennifer is on the Board of Directors for the Urban Wood Network, and led a team to develop the first ever Urban Wood Standards and pathway for certification for Urban Wood Network members. She provides many tools that help store carbon in lumber, and co-founded AncesTREE™ inventory management app and Urban Lumber Market to help others do the same.
