Shutterbugs! Get out
those digital cameras and have your FAVORITE
TREE photo
featured in our upcoming calendar.
Each month
Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council will take submissions of
photos of champion, famous & favorite trees located in the Metroplex.
One photo will be selected each month for the next year’s
calendar. Send us a picture of your favorite significant
tree!
How it works:
- Find a
champion, famous, or a favorite tree in the Metroplex (the Dallas and
Fort Worth region). If you don’t know where one is, check
out these resources. To protect the tree and the owners
many trees are not listed by their exact location, so a
little sleuthing may be needed.
- Photograph
the tree with at least a 4.2 megapixel camera in landscape
format.
- To
increase the chances of your photo being selected, make sure
it reflects the season or month, such as fall color, spring
bloom, snow or ice, etc.
- E-mail
your photo as an attachment along with the following
information:
- Your
name
- The
name and location of the tree
- Or,
the name, location and a brief description of the tree for example:
-
Trader’s Oak, Trader’s Oak Park, Fort Worth. In
1849, Henry Clay Daggett & Archibald Franklin
Leonard built a trading post beside this live oak.
Tarrant County’s first election was held under the
tree in 1850. ---- OR ---- My favorite tree is
a grand Post Oak standing majestically alone in a
field. The tree is likely 150 years old and it
has seen more history of my town than any person
living.
- Complete
& submit the photo release form
and
artwork release form
