Birding Hike

LBJ National Grasslands

Decatur

Go on a birding hike led by a Master Naturalist.  Birding field trips take place monthly on the LBJ National Grasslands.  This is a great way to get outdoors and learn or improve birding skills.  The hikes are led by experienced Master Naturalist.  Contact the Caddo/LBJ National Grasslands (U.S. Forest Service) office in Decatur for more details 940/627-5475.  (If severe weather is threatening, please call before 8:30am to make sure the hike has not been cancelled.)

Bird Walk on the Trailway

Take a guided birding walk on the State Trailway to locate and identify birds of the Cross Timbers area. The walk begins at the Weatherford Trailhead on the east end of the State Trailway in Weatherford near Cartwright City Park. See birds in three different habitats: open prairie, Post Oak-Blackjack Oak Woodlands and lake shore.

There's always something fun & interesting going on at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge.  Check out the bison herd, the prairie dog town, winter waterfowl on the Trinity River, migrating songbirds, go canoeing or attend a guided interpretive hike.  Special programs scheduled throughout the year.
